CE Mark

Since the 1st of July 2014 it has been a legal requirement that all structural steelwork sold within the EU must be CE marked to BS EN 1090. Kitbuildings have routinely passed annual audits by Lloyds Register.

BS EN 1090 is in place to ensure that there are controls at every stage of the manufacturing process. This includes;

  • Internal Audits
  • Approved Factory Production Control System
  • Daily welding quality control by a trained welding coordinator.
  • Equipment Calibration
  • Staff training including coded welders
  • Full traceability of all components including consumables
  • Product, Material and Component marking
  • Material Certification
  • Control and storage of all documents for 10 years
  • Records of non conforming materials

In short, BS EN 1090 ensures that Kitbuildings are able to trace all materials back to their source. During our CE audits we have been able to pick a building, trace back all materials and components to the steel mill certificates.

Knowing that a building is CE marked should give customers complete peace of mind that the building being supplied by Kitbuildings meets all of the latest EU regulations. We have an incredibly detailed factory production control manual that is strictly followed to ensure all structural steel is fabricated correctly. All buildings are supplied with a certificate of conformity showing that they meet the stringent controls of BS EN 1090.

Kitbuildings achieved the CE mark in July of 2014 and recently had an external LRQA audit on 20/08/2015. No non conformaces were noted, this means that we passed the inspection with top marks. The executive summary from the inspection can be viewed below.

An example of a CE certificate that is supplied with every Kitbuilding can be viewed below. This is called the declaration of performance. Insurance companies will require this prior to insuring any new steel frame building in the UK. The declaration of performance is supplied to give you complete peace of mind that your building conforms to BS EN 1090.
